I use testing that is based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The MBTI focuses more on a person's strengths and abilities. This testing instrument is based on the typological theories proposed by Carl Gustav Jung and first published in his 1921 book Psychological Types (English edition, 1923[2]). Jung theorized that there are four principal psychological functions by which we experience the world: sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking.

The Jung Typology Test is an unofficial version of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. We refer to it as it's free to the public. This test gives us enough information for our purposes.

Why we care so much about your personality type
Most people are aware that everyone has a different personality type. There are hundreds of personality quizzes online. At Real Caring, we have found it helpful to know and understand personality types, so that we can customize treatment for maximum effectiveness. In addition to helping individuals find balance, we are also able to use this tool to help couples and families understand one another better and improve communication.
If you've been labeled with a Personality Disorder, this test will help you understand your personality and the challenges that come with it. Many therapists find these disorders difficult to treat. We have found that there can be a difficulty in treating personality disorders if you don't understand someone's hard wired way of relating to the world around them. The rarer types, Idealists and Rationals, have a particular struggle with being different than others around them. With these types, in particular, it is impossible to use any type of "cookie cutter" approach. This is where therapy becomes an intuitive art form. We are here to help people to find their own "normal" based on their own unique personality type (not someone else's definition of "normal").
