When we see the secret beauty of anyone, including ourselves, we see past our judgment and fear into the core of who we truly are—not an entrapped self but the radiance of goodness.” – Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach
As a clinician I specialize in working with adolescents with history of trauma, depression, stress, relationship issues, and more. I have also had the opportunity to work with individual adults, families and groups. I have worked in residential treatment in some capacity since 2004 and it was then that I realized that this would be my life’s work.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College where I met and lived among confident and intelligent women from all over the country and the world. This experience set in motion the development of my identity as a person and clinician. I learned the value of asking questions and I began to understand the value of ambiguity in one’s search for clarity. Not long after, I began my education at Northwestern University where I received a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.
Since that time I have worked in residential treatment with adolescents from the most difficult and traumatic backgrounds one might imagine. By these young souls I have continually been inspired and I feel privileged to have been trusted to be a part of their process. I do this work because I love it – the challenge, the connection, the reflection, and the way my clients light up when they feel empowered. I believe that there is goodness within us and that we deserve a chance to be our most genuine selves in the presence of others. I want to provide a space for you to be authentic so that you will see and begin to trust yourself to live life to its fullest.
I work with adolescents, adults and families. I use EMDR and DBT in addition to other evidence based therapies.
