![]() Your brain operates your entire body via the central nervous system. This system is an intricate web that connects all of cells inside of you. When one part of this system is not functioning well, the rest of the system is compromised. We firmly believe that for a healthy brain, you need to understand your body.
It's widely known how relaxing a massage session can be. What many people aren't aware of is how effective therapeutic massage is for your mental health. The mind communicates to the body through emotions. Emotions require the body to respond in a certain way. This is designed for our very survival. Emotions are "energy in motion". Without recognizing our emotions and understanding how to process them, they can get stuck in our bodies and we experience them as physical tension and pain. The body is pretty effective at communicating. Tight shoulders can indicate that you're "carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders". Headaches can indicate that there's "too much on your mind". Digestive issues often reveal that there's something going on that is "hard to swallow" or that you "can't stomach". Whether we realize it or not, our bodies record the impact of our life experiences. Therapeutic massage invites the body to communicate that which is difficult to verbalize. With the assistance of an experienced massage therapist, the body is able to express and release the emotions that have been stuck and experienced as tension and pain in the tissues. Here at Real Caring, our team creates a safe and healing environment. We are uniquely qualified as a team of mental health and bodywork professionals to process the emotions that may occur in your bodywork session. Just as there are different types of psychological therapy, there are different types of massage therapy. You and your massage therapist will come up with a plan customized to your specific needs. There are many articles exploring the psychological benefits of massage. This is one from GoodTherapy.org that is worth a read. |
